Meerpet Municipal Corporation is a newly constituted Urban Local Body Vide G.O. MS No.100 Dated 11.04.2016. It is strategically located and shares boundary with GHMC, Badangpet Nagarpanchayat and Jillelaguda Municipality. It is surrounded by many prestigious Central Government Defence Units such as MIDHANI, BDL, DRDL, RCI, ARCI etc., and the defence employees prefer to reside in Meerpet Municipality. It is often referred as “Mini India” as most of the residents migrated from various parts of India in the last decade. It is one of the highest growth rate recorded Local Body in Telangana State. It is a haven for the middle class people with a blend of Urban and rural population.
